At a time when Barcelona have been performing at a level not seen since the time Luis Enrique used to be in charge of the club, it is perhaps a bittersweet feeling for Barça fans to know that Enrique’s PSG are also doing well this season.
Along with Barça, PSG are among the best-performing teams in Europe this season, as evidenced by their performances in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
However, despite building a solid squad this season, Enrique is already looking ahead and wants to strengthen his squad further in the coming summer.
To that end, a recent report from Fichajes has revealed that one of the players Enrique is targeting is none other than Gavi.
It appears the former Barça coach has demanded the signing of the young midfielder, who is regarded as one of the future leaders in Catalonia.
Despite struggling with injuries over the past year or so, Gavi is considered vital to Barcelona’s plans, even though Hansi Flick may not have used him as prominently this season.

This might be due to Gavi’s fitness, with the manager taking a cautious approach with the fan-favourite midfielder following his return from an ACL injury.
Nevertheless, the report adds that Enrique shares a good relationship with Gavi and wants him to be a part of his setup at PSG.
Enrique, in fact, is convinced that Gavi could be an ideal fit in his system, bringing more dynamism and aggression to the creative third of the pitch. Not to mention, he can also reunite with his former Barcelona teammate Ousmane Dembele.
That being said, Barcelona still consider Gavi a key piece, not just for the present but for the future as well. Therefore, convincing the Catalans to give up on the midfielder could be next to impossible.
A lot may also depend on Gavi’s own wishes. But judging by the player’s commitment to Barcelona, it is unlikely he will likely to move anywhere anytime soon.
