Manchester United are genuinely keeping an eye on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha who has been earning plaudits for his solid displays this season.
The Red Devils have a big summer ahead, as they’ll be looking to enhance their various departments, including the middle of the park which will witness the departure of Christian Eriksen. The Dane is running on an expiring contract and has already admitted he’s a goner, as INEOS have never approached him about a renewal.
Moreover, the club will be hoping to get rid of Casemiro and his hefty wages (circa £350,000 per week), even though his recently improved displays suggest he might still have some fuel left in the tank. And let’s not forget about Kobbie Mainoo and the uncertainty engulfing his future. Therefore, the arrival of at least one quality midfielder is required.
Over the past 24 hours or so, reports in Germany have identified Nmecha as a potential transfer target for Man Utd. The 24-year-old is a Manchester City youth product who went on to make a name for himself on the senior level with Wolfsburg, thus earning a move to Borussia Dortmund.

This season, the midfielder has been delivering the goods at Signal Iduna Park, at least prior to his injury. Former BVB coach Nuri Sahin hailed him as ‘exceptional’ back in November.
For his part, Christian Falk confirms Man Utd’s interest in Nmecha, while revealing that Dortmund could be forced to sell the player if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
“Manchester United are interested in Felix Nmecha,” wrote the renowned Germany journalist in his latest column for The Daily Briefing.
“The Red Devils want to pay £40m for the footballer. He joined from VfL Wolfsburg for €30m in 2023. If BVB miss out on Champions League football, he could be one of several players they’re forced to sell.”
The German club is currently 11th in the Bundesliga standings, sitting 10 points adrift from the Champions League zone with only eight fixtures left in the season. Nevertheless, they might just book their ticket by winning this season’s edition. They’re currently preparing to take on Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
