It is safe to say that Manchester United are undergoing one of their worst seasons ever. They find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table and it is hard to see where Ruben Amorim's side will go from here. The summer transfer window will be massive for the club, that is for sure. Could a former Celtic player be part of the solution?
Manchester United have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson left as manager in 2013. But things seem to be only getting worse for them.
No matter which transfer strategy they have used, it has not worked out for them. Their fans will be hoping that things change in this regard as soon as possible.
One of the most in-demand talents in European football right now is Jeremie Frimpong. He has been linked with both Liverpool and Barcelona over the last few days. But Jaap Stam appears to believe that he would be perfect for Manchester United as well. As reported by TEAMtalk, the Dutch legend told Makthavare:
"Jeremie Frimpong can play as a right-wing back having also played as a right winger and a right back.“He has pace and is very direct and can score goals as well as create chances for his team-mates.“I think he would be a very interesting player for Manchester United to look at, he would fit the style of play on the right-hand side."
Frimpong has established himself as one of the brightest talents in European football over his time at Bayer Leverkusen. This summer is expected to be the time that he takes the next step in his career and leaves the club.
It is very clear that he will have a lot of options waiting for him. Liverpool and Barcelona seem to have a genuine interest in the youngster. Will Man Utd make their move as well?
Of course, all of this is great news for Celtic. That is because of the fact that they hold a significant sell-on clause in the case of Frimpong. So, the Hoops will be waiting for a windfall in the upcoming summer transfer window, when the move does happen.
