Some interesting odds on Premier League top four (and other possibilities) for the 2024/25 season where Newcastle United are concerned.

With bookies taking stock after Eddie Howe and his team won against Brentford.

A full midweek programme of Premier League matches with only Chelsea v Spurs tonight to complete

The bookies and punters reacting to how things now stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.

Listed below are the general Premier League odds now (morning of 3 April 2025) available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season (in brackets are what the odds were after the very opening round of PL games):

Win the Premier League:

1/33 (13/2) Liverpool

25/1 (9/5) Arsenal

500/1 (1,500/1) Forest

So Newcastle United (2,000/1) and the rest now given no chance in reality, obviously!

This is how the Premier League table looks today (Thursday 3 April 2025):

Premier League relegation:

1/1,000 (1/1) Southampton

1/250  (1/2) Leicester

1/16 (10/11) Ipswich

14/1 (12/1) Man City

28/1 (7/2) Wolves

The bottom three also now looking all but a formality as well. Ipswich kept alive the faintest of hopes with a 2-1 win at Bournemouth last night, but with Wolves having also won this midweek (1-0 at home to West Ham), it is all but inevitable that Ipswich join the other two in getting instant relegation after promotion.

If you are wondering about the Man City 14/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. Still waiting for the outcome of that case.

There are no offers on Newcastle United getting relegated as it now getting almost mathematically impossible.

Finish Premier League top four:

1/2,000 (1/2) Liverpool

1/100 (1/9) Arsenal

2/5 (100/1) Forest

4/6 (1/7) Man City

6/4 (9/4) Chelsea

2/1 (9/4) Newcastle United

20/1 (7/2) Villa

28/1 (11/1) Brighton

200/1 (66/1) Fulham

This is where, like me, I guess you will be giving most focus.

Can Newcastle United bounce back into the Premier League top four and get Champions League football?

Well, the bookies now have NUFC sixth most likely.

That win last night against Brentford could prove huge.

Chelsea failing to win against Tottenham tonight would be a significant bonus.

With it all but guaranteed that fifth place will get a Champions League spot, the race is very much on. So in reality, the bookies odds on Newcastle playing Champions League football next season, are actually far shorter than the 5/2 to finish top four.

A couple of bookies have now opened a market on finishing in the Premier League top five, no offers on Liverpool and Arsenal as they are seen as sure things, but for the other three places in the top five the best odds are:

1/7 Forest

11/20 Chelsea

13/20 Newcastle United

9/2 Villa

12/1 Brighton

Newcastle 2 Brentford 1 – Wednesday 2 April 7.45pm
