Nico O’Reilly says he is hoping he can be part of another huge Wembley occasion this weekend.

The 20-year-old has made the left-back role his own in recent weeks with a series of impressive performances that have also included goals and assists.

O’Reilly made his senior debut in the penalty shoot-out FA Community Shield win over Manchester United last August – and he is hoping he can feature in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

“It would be an amazing feeling to go to Wembley in a big game,” said O’Reilly.

“We know how good [Forest] are and I am excited for it. You have just got to take every game as it comes, and we are just focusing on this match, and we will see what comes from there.

“Forest are a very good team which they have showed this season in the Premier League. They have got some very good players, very fast players, creative and they are good defensively.

“It is going to be a difficult game, but we are in the latter stages of the competition so of course every game is going to be difficult.”

O’Reilly has featured in all four of our FA Cup ties this season.

He scored his first senior goal against Salford City in the third round, played for more than an hour away to Leyton Orient, scored twice in the victory over Plymouth and then came on at half-time against Bournemouth and provide both assists in our 2-1 win at the Vitality.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the versatile youngster – but one that he’s relished – particularly that first senior goal against Salford.

“I have dreamt of that moment all of my life,” he said.

"It was a crazy feeling, and I was so happy. I remember giving it to Jeremy out wide and I made a run inside. He ended up just giving me the ball back and I put it into the bottom corner.

“At the Etihad as well, it is an amazing stadium, and I was so happy I could score my first goal there. I have loved every single game.

“Every game has been a different challenge, and we have faced different opponents in different leagues.

“It is a special competition, and I have enjoyed it a lot so far. It is always tough games, but you have got to embrace it and take it on.

“The whole team have played a massive part in helping us in this competition.

“Personally, I just try and work for the team every single game. I learn a lot every day here from world class players, so I am also learning. I have learnt a lot from this competition as well.”
