Luka Modric is set to join the ownership group at Swansea City, with a deal now agreed for the Real Madrid captain to become a minority shareholder in the Championship club, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Croatian international, widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, will take on a behind-the-scenes role in South Wales – though this move will not impact his playing career.
Indeed, the update from Romano makes it clear that Modric, whose contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of he season, remains committed to continuing playing for the Spanish capital club.
Modric’s decision to invest in Swansea mirrors a growing trend among elite footballers who are expanding their influence beyond the pitch.

These moves signal a broader shift in how top-level players are looking to shape the future of football through ownership and long-term involvement in club development.
For Swansea, currently competing in England’s second tier and in 12th place in the table, the arrival of a figure like Modric adds credibility and international attention.
While his stake is minority-level, his experience at the highest level of the game, including winning six Champions League titles, could prove valuable as the club looks to rebuild and push for a return to the Premier League.
As for his future at Real Madrid even though Modric remains keen on continuing, it is far from certain that he will remain at the club beyond this season.
