It has been recently reported that Franco Mastantuono could once again become a hot topic at Real Madrid should Santiago Solari take over this summer.
The current sporting director could possibly replace Carlo Ancelotti as the interim Real Madrid coach. And therefore, he could push for the signing of Mastantuono, a player he knows well.
Real Madrid’s interest in the River Plate sensation has been well documented as well, setting the stage for a potential summer swoop.
However, a recent report from Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Mastantuono.
The Italian journalist claims Los Blancos are not looking to make a move for the Argentine wizard just yet.

Although the club are well aware of the player’s potential, they are not looking to proceed with the deal and meet River Plate’s current economic demands.
Romano adds that Real Madrid were not too happy with the financial terms demanded during a meeting with the player in October or November.
The club, therefore, are likely to pass on the opportunity to sign Mastantuono for now, knowing the Argentine could cost a fortune.
Not to mention, Mastantuono’s acquisition might not make complete tactical sense as Real Madrid are already quite stacked in the number ten role, with the likes of Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz competing for spots.
Keeping that in mind, it won’t be surprising to see Real Madrid remaining quiet on matters related to Mastantuono. The club are expected to focus on other weak areas, as they look to reinforce their squad in the coming summer.
