Barcelona could be on the verge of losing Eric Garcia, as Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a formal offer to sign the versatile defender.
According to Fichajes, the London-based club is prepared to put forward a bid in the region of €15 million to bring the Spanish centre-back back to England.
Garcia, who came through La Masía before joining Manchester City, returned to Barcelona with high expectations. However, his second stint at the Catalan club has been far from convincing.
Despite his versatility and ability to fill in at centre-back or defensive midfield, he has struggled to cement a place in the starting XI, first under Xavi and now under Hansi Flick.

Interestingly, Flick is said to admire Garcia’s adaptability and views him as a useful option for the rest of the campaign.
But with Barcelona still juggling their financial concerns and looking to offload players who are not considered untouchable, Garcia’s long-term future at the club remains in doubt.
Tottenham, aware of their defensive shortcomings, see Garcia as a low-risk, high-reward investment. At 24, he still has time to develop, and his previous experience in English football makes him an attractive proposition.
The North London outfit is reportedly set to accelerate negotiations in the coming weeks, with a view to finalising the transfer before the summer window heats up.
With a contract running until 2026, any deal would need to satisfy both the club and the player. However, if Tottenham meet Barcelona’s valuation, which is said to be around €20 million, the Catalan side may be tempted to cash in.
The situation remains fluid. While Garcia has Flick’s backing, lack of first-team football and the club’s troubles with financial management could lead to an exit in the summer.
