Olympique de Marseille’s loss on Saturday to Stade de Reims (3-1) put a significant dent in Les Olympiens’ chances of qualifying for the Champions League, dropping below AS Monaco into third place.Roberto De Zerbi was far from happy with his side’s outing in the champagne region, so much so that he has collectively sanctioned the entire OM squad on return back to Marseille on Saturday evening. According to a report by La Provence, Marseille’s players were ordered to spend the night at the La Commanderie training ground instead of heading home after their flight landed at Marignane airport.Marseille’s coaching staff also informed players that their rest days had been cancelled on Sunday and Monday, and that they today resume training in an urgent effort to get the team back on track. Les Olympiens still hold a spot in the top three in the Ligue 1 table, which could still secure Champions League qualification by the end of the season. Yet OM are only precariously sitting two points ahead of fourth-placed Nice following Monaco’s victory in the Côte d’Azur Derby on Saturday evening (2-1).De Zerbi’s men are back in action next weekend against Toulouse at the Stade Vélodrome.
