Manchester United’s season rides on Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg tie and Joshua Zirkzee’s injury could not have come at a worse time.

The Dutchman was starting to shine under Ruben Amorim but as The Peoples Person relayed, he will be missing the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.

That effectively means the head coach only has Rasmus Hojlund as his sole striking option and the Dane’s form does not inspire confidence.

On top of that Amad remains sidelined while Alejandro Garnacho’s form has also fallen off a cliff. The Portuguese tactician could do with more attacking help.

Unfortunately, one player who could have turned the tide is Academy wonderkid Chido Obi but he is ineligible to represent the Red Devils in Europe this season.

However, another Carrington graduate has the chance to step up on Thursday and he has already shown how capable he is for the academy.

The 18-year-old Gabriele Biancheri has been on fire for the youth team, netting 20 goals while also registering five assists from only 19 starts across all competitions.

This includes eight goals for the reserves and 12 for the U18s. The Welsh U19 international can not only play up top but also wide on the left and has proven to be “unstoppable” this season.

Biancheri’s chance to shine?

His goalscoring prowess has clearly caught Amorim’s eye and the former Cardiff starlet was called up for the first-team training a day before the game.

Physicality might be an issue but his speed, technique and eye for goal make him a unique talent. He remains the best bet as a late substitute among the other options in the squad currently and it will not be surprising if Amorim includes him in the matchday squad.

Biancheri has had to bide his time, watching on as Chido Obi overtook him in the pecking order as the ex-Arsenal starlet made his first-team debut before him.

But Thursday could be finally be his chance to shine. United fans have prepared something special and every member of the squad needs to pull together to make it a night to remember for the club.
