The Saints may need to find a new goalkeeper this summer with Premier League clubs eyeing Aaron Ramsdale.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is a player of interest to Southampton, but they face competition from clubs across Europe for his signature this summer.

It's set to be another busy summer window at St Mary's. Preparing for a move back to the Championship isn't what the Saints had in mind after their glorious play-off final victory over Leeds United just under a year ago, but it became obvious pretty quickly that that's exactly what they were going to have to do.

Part of relegation from the Premier League is having a number of clubs from the league above try to sign your best players on a cut-price deal. Southampton were involved in such negotiations two seasons ago, when they made £145 million from player sales across the campaign, and it will be the same this summer, with chairman Dragan Solak targeting more than £100 million in income, as per talkSPORT.

Southampton log their interest in Bayern Munich goalkeeper

One avenue of money generation for the Saints will be through their England international goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale. He's being eyed by West Ham United, who, according to talkSPORT, are also supposedly keen on Tyler Dibling, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and soon-to-be free agent Kyle Walker-Peters.

Current back-up Joe Lumley, 30, is set to leave the club this summer when his contract expires, leaving Alex McCarthy, 35, and Gavin Bazunu, 23, as the options left behind Ramsdale for the upcoming campaign.

They aren't likely to assume Ramsdale's starting position should he leave the south coast this summer, and so the Saints, according to Sky Germany, have their eyes on Peretz.

The 24-year-old Israeli goalkeeper has been a regular feature on Bayern's bench this season, acting as the third-choice behind Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig, though Peretz has started one Champions League game and three Bundesliga matches in the 2024/25 campaign.

He was signed by the Bavarian side in 2023 from Maccabi Tel Aviv for £4.2 million, and could now be on the move again as a number of sides register their interest in him. RC Lens, who are managed by one of Southampton's Ivan Juric replacement options, Will Still, and Eintracht Frankfurt are also said to be keen on Peretz.

Southampton, alongside fellow relegated side Leicester City, have also been linked with 23-year-old Serbian glovesman Aleksandar Vulic, who plays in the Serbian first division.

Peretz doesn't feel like the safest of bets for Southampton to make

The goal for the Saints next season is an obvious one: challenge for, if not win, promotion back to the Premier League. To do that, they are going to need an assured keeper who has the backing of whichever manager they decide to appoint.

Peretz isn't a vastly experienced player for his position and in the outings he has had this season he hasn't pulled up any trees. In the three league matches he has played in, he has let in four goals - 1.23 more than he was expected to, based on the quality of shots that he faced, according to Sofascore.

Southampton had a very similar problem with Bazunu last season, who let in 11.52 more goals than he was expected to, again, per Sofascore.
