Liverpool have been linked with a move for Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold is nearing an exit from Liverpool with the defender having expressed his interest in joining Real Madrid. The 26-year-old is out of contract at Anfield in the summer and closing in on a free transfer move to the Bernabeu.

Liverpool are now scouring the market for reinforcements. One name on their shortlist is Mingueza, according to Fichajes, who has emerged as one of La Liga’s most consistent right-backs since joining Celta Vigo from Barcelona in 2022.

The 25-year-old, who has operated in both full-back positions for the Spanish side this season, has scored three goals and provided five assists in a career-best campaign in 2024/25. Mingueza has also played as a centre-back in his career.

Aston Villa were heavily linked with a deal to sign the three-cap Spain international in January. It is understood that Mingueza has a release clause of around €20m (£16.6m) in his contract with the La Liga outfit.

Liverpool have Conor Bradley as a potential successor to Alexander-Arnold but are keen to bring in additional depth at right-back. Mingueza’s ability to cover across the backline and modest release clause make him an intriguing option for Arne Slot, particularly given transfer interest in Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah from rival clubs.
