Italy and Juventus legend Marco Tardelli believes Igor Tudor will rely on Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz, who were ‘abandoned’ by Thiago Motta, but insists the Bianconeri had been ‘blind’ and ‘uninterested’ in what happened in the dressing room for too long.
Juventus hired Tudor to replace Motta after falling into fifth place in Serie A.
The Croatian tactician, a former Juventus defender, was unveiled at a press conference on Thursday.
“He’s determined to take the opportunity to stay at Juventus, betting on Vlahovic and Yildiz, two players abandoned by Motta,” Tardelli wrote in his La Stampa column.

Vlahovic is the best Juventus scorer this season, but has only played 455 minutes of football in 2025, starting just four times, twice when his teammate Randal Kolo Muani was unavailable.
“I saw the right approach for a coach who needs to win and rebuild the locker room due to an unexpected situation that dragged on for too long,” Tardelli continued.
“Tudor knows the environment, having been there as a player and coach. He knows what the fans expect from the team and the club.”
Juventus Chief Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli has also come under fire following Motta’s sacking. Not only did Giuntoli pick the ex-Bologna coach last year, but many of his new signings, worth over €200m, have failed to match expectations.
Tardelli also sees responsibility within the club: “They’ve been blind and uninterested in what was happening around them for too long,” he argued.
“It was clear that the volcano was about to erupt. Why didn’t they try to stop it?
“I wonder why Giuntoli, a former footballer who knows locker rooms well, didn’t sense what was happening, especially considering that he had acted somewhat impulsively in other situations.”
