Chelsea have looked at three other centre backs in the event they miss out on Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen according to reports.

The Blues are once again set to be busy this summer, and they could fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to improve Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea have three Huijsen alternatives

There’s expected to be plenty of movement at centre back, with Axel Disasi expected to leave, whilst there’s uncertainty surrounding the future of Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Huijsen and are now said to be leading the race for the 20-year-old, who has a £50m release clause.

It’s been reported the Blues hope to have a deal wrapped up before the Club World Cup, whilst they view Huijsen as someone who can complement Fofana.

Liverpool also hold interest as well as Real Madrid, although it’s now expected Huijsen will remain in the Premier League.

However, if the Blues were to miss out on the defender, The Guardian have reported Chelsea have looked at three alternatives.

The report states the Blues have looked at Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Ajax teenager Jorrel Hato.

It’s clear Huijsen is the primary target, but what’s less clear is how many centre backs Chelsea will look to sign this summer.

The Blues lack leadership and experience at the back, and whilst Huijsen is a huge talent and will only get better, he doesn’t address those issues.

Bringing Guehi in as well would make more sense, and the England international could be available for a cut price deal given he’ll have just 12 months left on his deal in the summer.

Chelsea tried to resign the 24-year-old in January before deciding against it, and he would certainly be one to keep an eye on along with Huijsen.
