Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has suffered a serious injury that could rule him out for the rest of the season.
Gil joined Girona on loan from Spurs and has been impressive this season.
According to a report from Cadena Sar, the Spanish winger has suffered damage to his meniscus and lateral ligament of the knee, which is “bad news” for the La Liga club.
Since moving out of Tottenham Hotspur stadium, he has been playing well this season. The 24-year-old attacker has made 24 appearances in the league, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
The injury will rule him out for the rest of the season, and the decision is pending on whether he should undergo surgery.
Spurs paid £21.6 million back in 2021 to sign Gil in a part-exchange deal that saw Erik Lamela moving to Sevilla.
He has made only 43 appearances for the north London club and has spent time on loan with Valencia, Sevilla, and Girona in recent years.
Girona has the option to sign him permanently next summer, but his latest injury could force them to change their plans.
Gil has a contract at Spurs until 2026, and it is too early to say that his future at the north London club is over.
Ange Postecoglou does not seem to rate him highly, and as long as he is there at the club, Gil probably won’t get another chance to play for Tottenham.
