Although the game is coming in a far-from-ideal situation, FC Barcelona will still have to get a win tomorrow against Osasuna to retain their advantage over Real Madrid in the league table.
The Merengues are level on points with the Blaugranes, even though the latter have a game in hand. This game in hand is set to be played tomorrow at the Montjuic, only a few hours after the end of the international break.
Owing to the lack of rest in between games, two important players for the Catalan team, Raphinha and Ronald Araujo are unlikely to play against Osasuna.
Meanwhile, the defender Pau Cubarsi also suffered a physical problem while playing for Spain in this international break. While he returned to training today to test his condition, it is still uncertain whether he will be able to play tomorrow.
With these two centre-backs doubtful for the Osasunsa game, and Inigo Martinez also having physical problems after the game against Atletico Madrid, Hansi Flick called up the youngster Alexis Olmedo to train with the first team.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the youngster was also present in the last training session ahead of the game on Thursday and has now trained under Flick for three days in a row.
Thus, he is highly likely to be called up by the Barcelona coach for this game, especially keeping in view all the absences in the centre of the defensive line.
It is still unlikely that he will start against Osasuna, as Eric Garcia will be available to start and the latest developments indicate Inigo Martinez’s return for this game as well.
However, he can get some minutes in case of any emergencies, or even just to give him his debut if Barcelona are enjoying a favourable scoreline in the last phases of the game.
