After Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final to seal their spot in the final and midfielder Adam Wharton believes his side have enough to trouble any side in the final.

The English midfielder played a key role in Crystal Palace’s win, he won the ball back for Palace before Ismaila Sarr fired home from outside the area to put the south London side two goals clear.

Nottingham Forest face Manchester City in the other semi-final on Sunday and after Crystal Palace’s win Wharton believes that either side will find it tough to beat Crystal Palace.

“I am not really too fussed who we face. I believe we can win whoever we play.

“We have just got to focus on ourselves and we have got to work harder than whoever we play and hopefully we can get the win.”

Crystal Palace have never won a major trophy in their history so are looking to create history by winning the FA Cup this year. Wharton backs this Palace side to be able to do it.

“The FA Cup is a great opportunity for us as players, as fans, as a club to get Crystal Palace’s first trophy and we are confident we can do that.

“We have got to stay humble, stay working hard and working for every game. We have to work for every result every day in training and hopefully we can produce that.”

Winning the FA Cup would also result in Crystal Palace qualifying for the Europa League. The Eagles have not played in European competition for over 20 years.

“There is still alot to play for in the league. I think we have four or five games left and then obviously the FA Cup final.

“We will take each game as it comes, we will try and win every single game like we have done the last couple weeks. We have not been saving ourselves just for this game and I am sure we have a good chance of qualifying for Europe.”

Despite Aston Villa dominating the ball Wharton believes Crystal Palace were always in control.

“We know they are a good team on the ball and they like to have alot of posession, and they are good at that. If we pressed then they would break through us and get into the pockets where they are dangerous.

“We just tried to stay compact and limit their chances and I felt we were in control even when we did not have the ball. That was our game plan and we executed it well.”
