FC Barcelona have managed to secure yet another crucial win in La Liga following their most recent win. After defeating CA Osasuna at the Montjuic Stadium, La Blaugrana have managed to secure three massive points. Moreover, this was a rather comfortable win for Barcelona as well.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding this game initially, and that mainly had to do with the scheduling of the match. Previously postponed due to the unfortunate passing of a first-team doctor, it was now scheduled to take place essentially during an international break.

While Hansi Flick did publicly express his thoughts on the matter, Barcelona still proceeded with the game and focused on putting on a good display. Fortunately, that is exactly what the team managed to deliver as well.

With 74% of the possession throughout the game, Barcelona were clearly in control and dominating their opponent. Moreover, by generating 3.72 xG throughout the match, it was clear to see that the Catalan giants were the team posing most of the goalscoring threat.

In comparison, Osasuna generated a meagre 0.40 xG and barely produced anything in terms of goalscoring threat. With four total shots in the game and zero shots on target, it was clear to see that the opposition were struggling to create something.

As for Barcelona, they had a total of 19 shots and 5 of them were on target. Moreover, with a clear superiority in both chances created and passes, Hansi Flick’s side were cruising past their opponents and made sure to get the job done as cleanly as possible.

The first goal came through Ferran Torres, and was created through some wonderful play by Frenkie de Jong and Alejandro Balde as well. With that positive start, Barcelona started to grow even more into the game.

Soon after, a wonderful pass from Pedri saw Dani Olmo run into space and win a penalty for Barcelona as well after he was brought down in the box. While Olmo failed to convert it on his first attempt, an encroachment from an Osasuna player allowed him to retake it and he made that one count.

Unfortunately for the Spaniard, that would be his last major contribution in the game as he went down with an injury before the 30th minute mark. Still, Barcelona retained control of the game and even managed to score a third goal through Robert Lewandowski in the second half.

With this win, Barcelona now go three points clear at the top of the La Liga table. Since this was their game in hand, the Catalan giants had to make sure that they made it count. As for the game up ahead, Barça will be taking on Michel’s Girona in La Liga at the Montjuic Stadium.
