Barcelona continue their planning for next season with optimism inside the club’s sporting department, which is confident it will be able to operate normally in the transfer market despite ongoing friction with La Liga over financial regulations.
The Blaugrana sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick have identified several positions in need of reinforcement and one of the top priorities is the right-back role.
As has already been reported, Barcelona have identified several players as possible targets, with names such as Vanderson, Jeremie Frimpong, Marc Pubill, and Givairo Read on the radars.
Now, according to SPORT, among the names being tracked by Barcelona is Fiorentina right-back Dodo, a player long admired by the club and previously compared to Dani Alves for his dynamic, attacking style.
Dodo was a serious target for Barcelona back in 2022, when he left Shakhtar Donetsk. Although negotiations were underway, the deal was not finalised and Fiorentina secured his services for around €15 million.
Since then, the 26-year-old Brazilian has become a key figure at the Italian club. After overcoming a serious injury, he has emerged as one of Fiorentina’s leaders this season, helping the team compete for European qualification.

Dodo has solid experience, having played in Portugal, Ukraine, and Italy at a consistently high level. Offensively skilled but also physically strong and defensively reliable, he fits the mould of a modern full-back that Barça are looking for.
However, several other Serie A clubs, most notably Juventus and Napoli, are also monitoring his situation.
As per the report, Dodo has paused contract renewal talks with Fiorentina after learning of Barcelona’s renewed interest. His current deal expires in 2026.
The Brazilian defender’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, maintains a strong relationship with the Barça board and has been involved in several past operations with the Catalan club. Interestingly, Bertolucci has also held discussions with Deco regarding Vanderson.
Dodo has now been formally proposed as an alternative, and given the financial considerations, he could represent a more viable option.
Deco aims to move early and secure deals ahead of the new fiscal year, which starts on 1 July. However, it is already clear that player departures might be necessary to make room for new signings.
