The last night was another memorable one for FC Barcelona as the Blaugranes continued on their charge towards the La Liga title with a very hard-fought 4-3 win over Celta Vigo at the Montjuic.
The Blaugranes were down 3-1 by the 62nd minute, and had to give their everything in the last half hour to get a win by the time the referee blew the full-time whistle.
However, this delightful night was soured to some extent by the injury suffered by Robert Lewandowski, who asked for a substitution in the final phase of the game after feeling discomfort in the left thigh.
Detailed tests have now been undertaken on the Barcelona forward, and Mundo Deportivo reports a medical report published by the Catalan club claims that he is suffering from an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh. The statement published by the club has not given any timeframe for his recovery.
Thus, his recovery will determine his participation in the remaining matches of the season, but for now, he is all but confirmed to miss the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid next week. Furthermore, only a miracle will allow him to participate in the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against Inter Milan.
There is no doubt that this is a major setback for Hansi Flick’s side, as the Pole can remain on the sidelines for up to three weeks in this crucial phase of the season.
However, the Blaugranes have shown this season that they can adapt well of his absence, as they won their last three games without him scoring five goals, in the 1-5 win over Mallorca in La Liga, 5-0 against Real Betis and 1-5 against Valencia, both in Copa del Rey.
Hopefully, he will again not be missed too much as Barcelona play against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final on 26th April.
