The future of Raphinha has become a hot topic at Barcelona as we slowly approach the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian has arguably been the best performing player in all of Europe this season, which has even led to calls for a Ballon d’Or title.

In the midst of all this, Raphinha’s contract has come into focus, with the forward’s deal at Camp Nou expiring in 2027.

Several disagreements between Barcelona and Raphinha

Barcelona have kickstarted efforts to try and tie Raphinha down to a new long-term contract, as they have with several of their star players this year.

However, as reported by Diario SPORT, the club are facing several difficulties in their bid to renew the contract of Raphinha.

For one, there have been several disagreements between the club and the player over certain factors, including wages and the duration of the contract.

Barcelona are ready to hand Raphinha a two-year contract extension, but in the form of a one-year extension with an option to increase the duration for another year, whereas Raphinha wants a direct two-year extension.

Another bone of contention has been the salary. It appears the Brazilian is not happy at the salary offered by the club and is holding out for a higher salary.

This is despite him knowing that Barcelona’s new salary structure under Joan Laporta bars any individual from enjoying an exorbitant salary package.

That said, there is an agreement between Barcelona and Raphinha to include a release clause in the contract worth around €80 million.

This goes in line with recent reports that suggest Barça are aiming for a similar figure should the club decide to sell Raphinha, who has become a target for multiple clubs across Europe.
