FC Barcelona will travel to Seville tomorrow as they get set to take on Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday at Estadio de La Cartuja.

The Blaugrana go into the game as favourites to lift the trophy, having already beat Real Madrid convincingly twice this season – once in La Liga and again in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen set for medical green light

Leading up to the game on Saturday, Barcelona seem set to welcome a long-term absentee back into the squad for the Real Madrid encounter.

Indeed, according to journalist Victor Navarro on COPE, Barça captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to receive his medical clearance and appears all set to travel to Seville with the rest of the squad.

Ter Stegen has been out of action since September last year after suffering a serious injury during a La Liga game. It was initially expected that he might not return to action this season but the German international has worked very hard on his recovery.

Having resumed group training a few weeks back, the 32-year-old goalkeeper is now on the cusp of making a comeback to the squad.

Indeed, Ter Stegen, having trained normally with the rest of the group today, seems set to receive his medical discharge and will be a part of the travelling squad for Seville.

While he might be receiving the green light from the medical department, it is pretty much a certainty that the Barcelona captain will not be involved on the pitch against Real Madrid.

Wojciech Szczesny has done a sterling job between the sticks since his debut in January and is all set to continue as the Catalans’ preferred option in goal, including in the high-profile games vs Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

However, there may be a possibility that Ter Stegen can feature in La Liga before the season ends if the Blaugrana manage to wrap up the title race soon.
