FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed great satisfaction and excitement after the team secured the Copa del Rey trophy by defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in the finals at Estadio de La Cartuja.

Laporta praised both the players and coach Hansi Flick as he celebrated Barcelona’s victory, sealed by Jules Kounde’s goal in extra time.

Speaking to TV3 (h/t SPORT), he described his immense joy at winning the title – Barça’s 32nd Copa del Rey.

“It was a spectacular final. We saw a great game. Pedri’s goal was spectacular. Flick made the right changes and these players deserved it,” said Laporta.

“These players feel very strongly about Barça, they’re true Cules and they’re doing a marvellous job. It was a collective victory.”

Laporta also disclosed that Flick had told him: “Today we must give everything.”

He further noted: “Hansi sometimes curbs the euphoria of this group because they are very young and may seem irreverent, but they were the first to be convinced that they would win.

“These players have a confidence in themselves. They are very young and very hungry.”

Laporta then dedicated the title to Barcelona’s global supporters, saying: “This title is for Cules around the world. They deserve it.”

Questioned about the controversy involving Real Madrid before the final, Laporta stated: “We approached this final in the right way, we wanted to talk about football. We are not interested in other strategies.”

Regarding the upcoming UCL fixture against Inter Milan, he concluded: “It will be difficult and we have to think about this tie, but I think we are better than them.”
