Barcelona secured for themselves ownership of an altogether unwanted record owing to their first-half display against Mallorca this evening.

Barca are of course currently locked in action.

Amid their ongoing pursuit of the La Liga title, Hansi Flick’s troops have welcomed the aforementioned Mallorca to Catalunya’s capital, hopeful of climbing a full seven points clear of 2nd-placed Real Madrid.

And as things stand, this is precisely what the Blaugrana are headed towards.

As much comes owing to a solitary strike on the part of Dani Olmo, early in the 2nd-half.

Olmo’s 2nd goal in two games gave rise to a collective sigh of relief at Montjuïc, after what had been a hugely frustrating opening 45 minutes for Barcelona.

The evening’s hosts peppered Mallorca’s goal with shots, only to time and time again see their efforts to break the deadlock come up short.

In fact, so dominant were the Catalans, that they managed to secure a piece of La Liga history, as per statisticians Opta:

‘FC Barcelona attempted 24 total shots (5 on target) in the first-half against Mallorca, a record for any team in a first-half in La Liga without scoring since (records began in) the 2003/04 season.’
