Barcelona have received some mixed news on the injury front ahead of the big game

Barcelona will be without Robert Lewandowski for tonight’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, but captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen is back in goal.

Lewandowski, who has netted 40 goals in 48 appearances across competitions so far this season, sustained a muscle injury during Barcelona’s comeback win over Celta Vigo last weekend.

A medical update via the club’s official website read: “Tests carried out this Sunday have confirmed that first-team player Robert Lewandowski has an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh.

“His return to team training will depend on how the injury progresses.”

Whilst Barcelona didn’t not provide a timeframe for Lewandowski’s return to action, he has not been included in the matchday squad. With that said, Hansi Flick is fortunate to be able to call upon Ferran Torres to lead the line in the final.

The Spaniard netted the all-important goal in the semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and is the joint-leading scorer in the competition this - along with Julian Alvarez and Endrick - having struck five times.

Torres is likely to be joined in the attack by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, whilst Dani Olmo can continue in the number 10 role having proven his fitness over the past week.

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri are set to resume their central midfield partnership, but with Alejandro Balde not yet ready to return, Gerard Martin could get the nod at left-back as Jules Kounde and Pau Cubarsi return after being rested for the midweek win over Real Mallorca.

In more positive news for Barca, captain ter Stegen is included in a matchday squad for the first time in seven months.

The club captain has recovered from a serious knee injury to make the trip to Seville. Although it is likely that Wojciech Szczesny will start in between the posts.

Predicted Barcelona XI: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Martin; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres

Injured: Lewandowski, Balde, Casado, Bernal.
