There are now just four more matchdays until the Bundesliga closes for the summer. Matchday 30 has only made the relegation battle even tighter, and the same can be said for those European places. The Bundesliga title took a big swing in one team’s favour, who now look set to win the league. Here is your recap from matchday 30 in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Two Games From Title

Bayern Munich are now just a maximum of two matchdays away from reclaiming the Bundesliga title. Bayern breezed past relegation candidates FC Heidenheim 0-4 on Saturday. First-half goals from Kane, Laimer, and Coman set the tone for a comfortable afternoon. Kimmich got Bayern’s 4th as they went 9 points clear before Leverkusen’s match at St. Pauli.

Leverkusen struggled against a rigid St. Pauli side for the majority of the first half but did eventually take the lead via Patrik Schick. However, a second-half comeback from Pauli ensured the game finished 1-1 and the points shared. A fantastic point for Pauli, who are looking to secure their Bundesliga safety, but which almost ends Leverkusen’s title hopes.

The draw now means that Bayern are 8 points clear with four games to go. Bayern could win the league this weekend, should they beat Mainz 05 and B04 lose or draw to FC Augsburg. If not, Bayern can win the league away at RB Leipzig the weekend after.

Dortmund Real Contenders For Europe

Borussia Dortmund have hit great form in recent weeks and now look like real contenders for Europe next season. When Niko Kovac took charge of BVB, it looked as if the club weren’t going to have any form of European football next season. However, after three wins and a draw from their last four Bundesliga fixtures, their season has been reignited.

Last weekend’s 3-2 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach puts Borussia Dortmund up to seventh place in the league table. With four fixtures remaining in the current campaign, die Schwarzgelben still stand a chance of salvaging what has been a tumultuous season as Niko Kovac’s BVB sit just four points adrift of the final Champions League spot.

“Every game is now a final for us,” Nmecha flatly stated. “Hopefully, we can still reach the Champions League.“

Up next for BVB is a trip to Hoffenheim. A win, in theory, could put them in 5th.

Union and Stuttgart’s Easter Treat

Both teams shared 8 goals in the first half as they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw. This was the first time this has ever happened in the Bundesliga.

The first half felt as if every shot was going in, with the goalkeeper often helpless for each one. Enzo Millot must have thought he’d score the goal of the day when his curling effort from 25 yards out found the top corner to make it 2-2 – in truth, this would be bettered just moments later.

Leopold Querfeld received the ball from roughly 35-40 yards out, took one touch and sent an absolute rocket in the far top corner to restore Union’s lead. If you’re going to watch one goal from matchday 30, make sure it’s this one.

That was in the 38th minute, and we still have three goals before half time to make it 4-4. The second half saw more rigid defence work from both teams as they realised this simply couldn’t go on!

The draw secures Union’s safety in the Bundesliga, whilst Stuttgart continue to slip down the table into 11th.

Around The Grounds

Elsewhere, FC Augsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz vs Wolfsburg, and RB Leipzig vs Holstein Kiel ended in draws.

There were wins for Werder Bremen against Bochum and SC Freiburg over TSG Hoffenheim.

With four games to go, there are just 3 points separating those in the automatic relegation places and the play-off spot.

In terms of Europe, there are five points that separate six teams from 4th to 9th.

Expect both situations to go down to the final day.
