Comfortable win for Bayern in Heidenheim

After being knocked out of Europe, Bayern’s focus returned to Bundesliga action with the trip to Heidenheim. Vincent Kompany faced another injury concern with Leon Goretzka out with a calf injury following the game in San Siro.

His absence was one of the reasons for Bayern’s four changes from the midweek match. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Kingsley Coman are among the players who regained their starting XI spots, while Thomas Müller is back on the bench days after playing his last Champions League game for the club.

Franck Schmidt only made one change from the side that started last week’s defeat in Frankfurt. Speedy winger Sirlord Conteh starts ahead of the center-back Tim Siersleben. While Frans Krätzig keeps his place, fellow Bayern loanee Paul Wanner starts on the bench once again.

Heidenheim started the game positively, but Bayern took the lead in the first 15 minutes. Harry Kane converted the first real chance of the league leaders as he scored from the edge of the box with a composed finish. The England captain broke Erling Haaland’s record of reaching 60 goals with the fewest games in Bundesliga history.

Five minutes later, Bayern’s lead doubled with Konrad Laimer’s first goal away from home this season. Bayern nearly scored a third goal when Kane missed a simple chance in the 22nd minute. Heidenheim came from two goals down to beat Bayern 3-2 last season, but there were no signs of that historic performance on this one.

Kane even had an opportunity to score a hat-trick inside the first 30 minutes. However, the Bundesliga’s top-scorer did start the move that resulted in Bayern’s third goal of the game. Coman scored the goal to seal three points in his first league start for two months.

Joshua Kimmich, who has never lost a Bundesliga game as a captain, extended Bayern’s lead to four goals early after the break. The midfielder scored with a simple finish for his first goal in 2025.

Kevin Müller had to make some decent saves to keep the scoreline at 4-0. Moments later, Bayern’s Müller entered the game for one of his last appearances in German football. The Raumdeuter will hope to play his 500th Bundesliga game next week against Mainz.

Meanwhile, Heidenheim suddenly created a good scoring opportunity, but Jonas Urbig denied Conteh. Bayern’s comfortable lead meant Gabriel Vidović did play the last 15 minutes, while Wanner entered the scene on the other end to play against his parent club.

Until Leverkusen play tomorrow, Bayern extended their lead at the summit to nine points. Meanwhile, Heidenheim will remain in the playoff spot since Bochum and Kiel failed to win their respective games.
