Concern for Barcelona as superstar suffers injury scare one week before Copa del Rey final | OneFootball

Barcelona had to battle it out for three points as they secured a narrow 4-3 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

After conceding three goals against Borussia Dortmund in midweek, the Barcelona defence once again looked lacklustre as they allowed Borja Iglesias to score a fantastic hat-trick, ultimately requiring a late penalty from Raphinha to decide the game.

These three points should be critical for Barcelona as they look to remain on top of Real Madrid in the title race. However, the win was overshadowed by concerns around Robert Lewandowski’s fitness.

Lewandowski picks up a knock vs Celta

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Lewandowski was forced to leave the Celta Vigo game in the 77th minute after picking up a potential thigh injury.

The Pole was eventually replaced by Dani Olmo. But as per the report, there are alarm bells ringing at Barcelona over the fitness of their star striker.

It appears the Catalans are uncertain whether or not Lewandowski will be able to participate in Barcelona’s next few matches.

This is relevant, especially considering the fact that Barcelona have a Copa del Rey final coming up against Real Madrid later this month.

The report even goes on to suggest that Lewandowski is a doubt not only for the upcoming La Liga contest against Mallorca but also for the Copa del Rey final vs Real Madrid.

That said, Barcelona are yet to issue an official statement confirming Lewandowski’s injury.

The Catalan fans will be looking for a positive report, knowing the Pole’s untimely injury could seriously damage Barcelona’s prospects going into the final phase of the campaign.
