According to Tuttomercatoweb (via VoetbalPrimeur), Oranje and Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with a Serie A return.

Despite previous Juventus allegiance, De Ligt is said to have appeared on Inter’s wish list, with the Nerazzurri first wanting to take the Dutchman on loan for a season before coming to terms on an option to buy.

The 25-year-old centre-back played 28 matches in the Premier League in his first season for the club. In a real mixed bag under Ruben Amorim, United are in 14th place, but find themselves in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

For the Red Devils, De Ligt’s possible departure would be financially beneficial. The English club wants to bring in Matheus Cunha next summer and will have to rearrange funds to get that deal over the line.
