Malo Gusto has described Christopher Nkunku as a “top” player in the build-up to Chelsea’s game with Legia Warsaw on Thursday night.
Chelsea have a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Poland, and barring an absolute disaster will progress to the last four of a competition they are heavy favourites to win.
Having got the job done in the first leg the Blues will be able to rotate and give opportunities to players who haven’t yet had them or are low on confidence.
A number of academy players will likely feature, whilst players such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Nkunku are sure to see minutes.
Nkunku is having a difficult time at Chelsea and could really do with a goal or two to boost his confidence having missed a penalty in the first leg.
The France international has been heavily criticised for his performances, and there’s a high chance he leaves in the summer.

Nkunku doesn’t seem to fit into Enzo Maresca’s system and has only scored three Premier League goals, although he’s does have 14 goals in all competitions.
Speaking in the build-up to Thursday’s game Gusto praised Nkunku and labelled him a “top” player despite his struggles.
“He’s one of my closest guys,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“Christo is a top player, everyone knows. I don’t know what I can say about him now. He tries to give his best. After is the coach’s choice.”

Nkunku can still have a key role to play over the final six games of the season as Chelsea look to win the Champions League and qualify for the Conference League.
However, the 27-year-old will need to a huge improvement in his performance levels if he’s to end a disappointing campaign on a high, and in all likelihood his Chelsea career is coming to an end.
