River Plate sensation Franco Mastantuono has made it clear he is in no rush to leave Argentina unless Real Madrid come calling, according to Tyc Sports.
The 17-year-old and his entourage have told interested clubs they are willing to wait for a move to the Spanish giants.
Despite growing interest from Europe, the prodigy is not desperate to leave River Plate immediately. He wants to hold out in the hope of Madrid swooping for him.
Manchester United showed serious interest in Mastantuono. The Red Devils reportedly held two meetings about the player in recent weeks.
He would fit in like a glove in the right inside forward position in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation. However, they are unwilling to meet his €40 million release clause.
Olympique Marseille president Pablo Longoria travelled to Argentina to push for a deal, but the teenager rejected them.
Madrid were one of the first clubs to register interest in Mastantuono, but have yet to formalise a bid.
His camp is reportedly willing to wait until the last moment before considering other options.
Los Blancos are renowned for snapping up young South American talents. They plucked Federico Valverde, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Endrick from that region.
The reigning La Liga champions could turn to Mastantuono as they look to revitalise their squad this summer, but that is a massive if.
The attacking midfielder has turned heads with his performances at River Plate, becoming one of the most coveted prospects in world football.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Madrid to see whether they take a punt on the youngster.
