Molby Predicts Business-Like Liverpool Performance at Fulham

Focus, Form and Flip-Flops: Why Molby Expects a Reds Victory

On the latest episode of “Molby On The Spot” from Anfield Index,

former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby shared his thoughts on this weekend’s Fulham vs Liverpool clash — and his verdict was calm, confident, and clear: “I just think we’re in the mood to get this title wrapped up as quickly as possible.”

That mood, according to Molby, is what leads him to predict a 2-0 win for Liverpool at Craven Cottage. No drama, no fuss, just three more points on the board in the relentless sprint towards the Premier League crown.

“My honest prediction for this? 2-0 victory. Mo Salah to be back on the scoresheet.”

Flip-Flop Territory: Fulham’s Season “Done”

Molby painted a picture of a Fulham side with little left to fight for. Sitting firmly mid-table, the West Londoners aren’t chasing Europe, and they’re not in danger of relegation. In Molby’s words, “Fulham are going to finish mid-table, aren’t they?” With the FA Cup exit behind them and the league table giving them no leverage, he questioned their motivation.

“This time of the season when things matter, you want to be playing what I call the flip-flop teams.”

He speculated that the likes of Fulham may already be mentally on the beach — “booking the holidays to Dubai, wherever” — rather than ready for a full-tilt battle with the league leaders. While he stopped short of outright dismissing Marco Silva’s side, the underlying message was one of opportunity: this is the kind of fixture title winners don’t slip in.

One Change Expected – And Salah to Step Up

Molby expects Alisson to return in goal, with concussion protocol hopefully cleared, but otherwise no major tweaks to the XI that won the Merseyside derby. That includes Curtis Jones staying at right-back, and Luis Díaz and Mo Salah flanking Diogo Jota up front.

“Mo Salah to be back on the scoresheet,” Molby repeated, tipping the Egyptian to sharpen up again after a quieter outing against Everton. With his eye for key moments, Molby expects Salah to capitalise on Fulham’s patchy form.

Warning Against Complacency

Despite his confident prediction, Molby didn’t write off Fulham entirely. He name-checked Raúl Jiménez as a player with the ability to ask questions, and pointed to defender Joachim Andersen as someone who’s been “absolutely crucial” for Silva’s side this season.

Still, the takeaway was clear: Liverpool are in control of their title race, and Fulham aren’t likely to derail it.

“With that in mind – 2-0 victory. Liverpool to win at Craven Cottage.”
