The Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal could well spell the end for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, and AC Milan have been mentioned as a potential destination.
Today’s edition of Il Giornale (via MilanNews) has a section with the following headline: ‘For Ancelotti, defeat is the end… the Real Madrid man between the green and gold sirens and the yellow, red and blacks’.
With the elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals against Arsenal, Ancelotti’s days at Real Madrid appear to be numbered. There was even a report from Sky yesterday stating that this weekend’s Copa del Rey final will be his last game.
Naturally, rumours about his possible next destination are circulating again. The Brazilian Football Federation, for example, have been pushing for some time to convince him to take over, in view of the World Cup next year.
Then there are Milan and Roma, two clubs he knows well. Ancelotti was at the helm of the Rossoneri from 2001 to 2009, winning two Champions Leagues, a Club World Cup, a Scudetto, two European Super Cups, a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana.
Given that Milan are almost certain to part ways with Sergio Conceicao at the end of the season, the opportunity may have presented itself for Ancelotti to make a return.
