Newcastle United have announced the news that goalkeeper Grace Donnelly will leave the club at the end of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the player’s scheduled departure via an official club press release from The Magpies this evening.

The 26-year-old joined Newcastle United from neighbours Sunderland back in 2017 and she is the Tynesiders’ longest-serving player, as well as their club captain. Donnelly sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury midway through her Newcastle United career but she bounced back to win back-to-back promotions with the club.

Donnelly has not made an appearance for Newcastle United this season, however, she has provided some vital competition for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey alongside Claudia Moan and Hannah Hawkins. She has been the ultimate professional both on the training pitch and on matchdays.

Commenting on her scheduled departure, Donnelly said “When I first joined Newcastle United Women, I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me what I would go on to achieve. It was beyond my wildest dreams, and I can say that I am happy to leave the shirt in a better place than I found it.

“I want to say a massive thank you to all of the fans for their support over the years, I have appreciated it all.

“To all of the players and staff that I’ve met across the last eight years, you have all brought something special to the club and I have made some of my best memories with you all.”

Donnelly will leave Newcastle United having made at least 140 appearances for the club in all competitions.
