As FC Barcelona get set to take on CA Osasuna in La Liga on Thursday night, preparations for the game continued today at Ciutat Esportiva.

Barça manager Hansi Flick welcomed the likes of Fermin Lopez, Gerard Martin, and Pablo Torre back to training on Monday after they were released from the Spain U-21 squad earlier than expected.

Furthermore, Inigo Martinez also rejoined training after recovering from his knee issue that he picked up against Atletico Madrid.

But question marks remain over the availability of Pau Cubarsi, who is still recovering from an ankle sprain, while there is uncertainty about Ronald Araujo and Raphinha’s presence as well.

Alexis Olmedo to be called up?

As such, Mundo Deportivo reports that Hansi Flick could call up youngster Alexis Olmedo to the squad for Barcelona’s game against Osasuna on Thursday.

The 19-year-old versatile defender was called up to train with the senior squad on Monday and has again trained under Flick today.

Given the limited defensive options, the La Masia talent could be given a place in the squad list for the match against Osasuna on Thursday in Montjuic.

Olmedo did the pre-season with the senior team and has been a regular for Barça Atletic this season.

Having recovered from an injury that put him on the sidelines for two months, the teenager recently made his comeback and could now earn a call-up to the first team.

More players return to training

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s training saw the return of Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, Frenkie de Jong, and Jules Kounde, following their international commitments.

However, Robert Lewandowski was still absent, having only featured briefly in Poland’s match against Malta last night. He is expected to rejoin the group on Wednesday.

While most players are on track to be available for the Osasuna match, Pau Cubarsi remains a serious doubt. He continued to train separately from the group, and his chances of being fit for Thursday’s game appear slim.
