Ruben Amorim has had to deal with a raging injury crisis since taking over the reigns at Manchester United but those dark clouds are slowly dissipating just in time as the club prepare for a glut of crucial fixtures.

The defence was the worst hit with Lisandro Martinez ruled out till the end of the year while Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven all sustained knocks.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, both the England international and the young Frenchman are set to be available for the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest while the ex-Arsenal starlet is finally out of his protective boot.

In further good news, The Athletic have claimed Luke Shaw, who has managed a 98 minutes of action this season, is also closing in on a return to training.

Shaw’s injury troubles

The England international played three times under the Portuguese head coach before sustaining a muscle injury.

While initially it was claimed he would be back in no time, the 29-year-old suffered a setback and has ended up missing four months of action.

His injury record has meant that the Red Devils have had to be extra careful with his recovery and they even sent the left-back to Doha to work his way back to fitness amid warm weather training.

And now, he is close to start training again on grass at Carrington. Given the obvious void at left centre-back, Amorim could do with the former Southampton star’s return.

“United have treated Shaw more cautiously than they would another player in the same position, due to his injury history.

Close to a return?

“He has since been allowed time in Doha, Qatar, to work his way to fitness in warm weather, and his return to the grass at Carrington is thought to be close.”

When in full flow, there are few players better in the left-back position than Shaw who has been described as “unbelievable“, but his injury record has really held him back, especially since signing a new deal.

And INEOS are far from pleased with this and considering his significant £150,000 gross per week wages (via capology), they ideally want much more in terms of availability at least.

Which is why they are mulling over selling him in the summer. Shaw will have to impress Amorim between now and the end of the season or else his United stint could soon be nearing its end.
