Man Utd predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest - Premier League

Manchester United enter the run-in with little to play for domestically, and they remain on course for their worst season in Premier League history.

However, there were signs of a resurgence before the break. Much of their good work under Ruben Amorim has arrived against superior opponents, when their capacity to defend deep and counter-attack comes to the fore, but United more recently manifested an ability to assert control with the ball and prevail.

After winning 3-0 at Leicester, the Red Devils are hoping to claim back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season. Nottingham Forest are up next on Tuesday night, and Nuno Espirito Santo's side will ask their visitors to break their imperious defence down at the City Ground.

A slog is in store for Amorim's side, and here's how they could line up against Forest.

GK: Andre Onana - Man Utd's reserve goalkeepers have returned to full fitness, but neither Altay Bayindir or Tom Heaton will displace Onana on Tuesday night.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt - The former Ajax defender has endured an up-and-down debut season at Old Trafford, but Amorim's approach without the ball is more suited to his skill set. He's no expert at defending the channels, but he'll likely line up on the outside of United's back three here.

CB: Harry Maguire - Maguire returned to United training over the break and is on course to return to the starting XI at the City Ground.

CB: Leny Yoro - Ayden Heaven joined Lisandro Martinez on the injury list, so Yoro's return from his setback is a timely one. The Frenchman's recovery speed will be imperative against this fast Forest attack.

RWB: Diogo Dalot - Dalot will be upgraded on in the summer, but he's serviceable for now and will likely be used over the more conservative Noussair Mazraoui at right wing-back.

CM: Manuel Ugarte - Amorim has leaned upon United's experienced heads in recent weeks, with Ugarte spending a brief period on the sidelines. Some will have concerns over his ability to contain Forest in transition on Tuesday, but he'll likely get the nod in the middle of the park.

CM: Bruno Fernandes - The Portuguese international found his very best form heading into the March international break, and a similar level of performance is required from Fernandes down the stretch if United are to end the season on a positive note.

LWB: Patrick Dorgu - It's been over a month since Dorgu was last seen in the Premier League, but he's finally eligible to return, having served his lengthy suspension. He'll aid United greatly going forward.

AM: Joshua Zirkzee - Zirkzee's starting to come into his own in Manchester after a mute start, with his majesty in possession beginning to win over supporters. He's suited to a more withdrawn role in this system.

AM: Alejandro Garnacho - Garnacho was on the scoresheet at Leicester before the break and will be fresh for Tuesday's game after he was omitted from Lionel Scaloni's squad for Argentina's recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - The Dane broke his 21-game scoring duck at the King Power before scoring against Portugal on international duty. The floodgates have opened!
