Manchester United want a new striker to lead the line next season, and the Red Devils are pushing forward with a move to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to The Mirror.

The Nigerian international is on loan at Galatasaray, where he has recorded 29 goals and six assists in 34 appearances for the Turkish giants, spearheading them to the top of the Super Lig table.

Osimhen would be an immense addition to the Man Utd roster. The Red Devils are trying to agree a cut-price deal of around £40 million for his services – outstanding business for the Premier League side if it signs for that fee.

Napoli could take the sum, as they are unwilling to lose him for free at the end of next season.

Man Utd are ramping up plans to reinvigorate the attack. Besides Osimhen, Ruben Amorim’s side is closing in on an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.

The prospect of Osimhen and Cunha collaborating up top and Bruno Fernandes feeding them is enticing. However, Man Utd must balance the books. Players are on the chopping block.

Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have not lived up to the billing at Old Trafford. Both players can potentially leave United this summer.

Zirkzee reportedly has interest from Juventus, while Napoli want Hojlund. United will decide which one to sell this summer to align with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Alejandro Garnacho is another whose future is up in the air. The potential arrival of Cunha will mean less game time, and he could head elsewhere. Napoli are keen on securing his signature.

Any deal involving Osimhen, Hojlund, and Garnacho will likely be done separately. Multi-exchange transfers are complicated to pull off and rare in football.

United hope that the potential addition of Osimhen and Cunha can help the club bounce back from a shameful 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
