If, as expected, Ederson departs Manchester City this summer then City will be in the market for a new number-one keeper. One keeper who could step into that void is FC Porto and Portugal keeper Diogo Costa. Now a new report indicates that the world champions are moving quickly to complete a deal for Diogo Costa. It seems that City are moving quickly to get in front of the race to sign the Portuguese international as they may face competition from Manchester United to sign Costa according to a new report.

Mark Brus has reported for CaughtOffside that Manchester City have submitted an offer of around €40 million to sign Diogo Costa. Furthermore, Brus reports that FC Porto is willing to sell their number-one keeper for €60 million. It is also reported by Brus that Manchester City are expected to come back with an improved offer for Diogo Costa. Lastly, Brus reports that Manchester United also have an interest in signing Portugal’s number-one keeper.

Manchester City may have to move quickly to wrap up a deal for Diogo Costa. The variable in all of City’s summer transfers is the FIFA Club World Cup. The question is will Ederson be available for the tournament for Pep Guardiola’s side? Santi Aouna has reported that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad are eager to sign Ederson this summer. Would Ederson jeopardize that potential move after an injury interrupted season by playing in the FIFA Club World Cup? That appears to be a valid question. If he doesn’t then City may have to move quickly to wrap up a deal for Diogo Costa.
