Manchester United are showing interest in Inter Milan centre-back Yann Bisseck, as per reports.
Harry Maguire’s brilliant performance as a striker helped United seal a dramatic 5-4 win over Olympique Lyonnais.
With the Red Devils trailing by two goals with just 10 minutes left in the contest, Ruben Amorim pushed his central defender higher up the field and it worked wonders. The Englishman scored the winning goal in the 121st minute to send his side through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
However, if United defenders, including Luke Shaw, had shown more composure earlier in the game, the hosts would have sealed the win in normal time.
In their last three matches, United have conceded 10 goals, including four at Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Apart from prolific forwards, Amorim also needs resilient centre-backs, and it seems the club’s hierarchy are already working on strengthening the position.
According to Fichajes, United have set their sights on Bisseck, who has emerged as one of the most promising defenders in Italy this term.
The 24-year-old has impressed United scouts with his performances under Simone Inzaghi, who has handed him 31 appearances in Serie A and the Champions League this season.
Known for his aerial prowess, recovery pace, and composure with the ball at his feet, the Germany international could prove to be a very good option in Amorim’s back three.
The Spanish outlet claim that there is “already talk of a proposal close to €60 million.”
As impressive as Bisscek has been this campaign, he is still behind Benjamin Pavard, Alessandro Bastoni, and Francesco Acerbi in the pecking order at San Siro.
As such, it is far-fetched to suggest United would be willing to spend such a figure on Inter’s fourth-choice centre-back, especially given their financial fair play concerns.
