Manchester United host Wolves in the Premier League this afternoon.
Ruben Amorim’s side return to action following a drama-filled night at Old Trafford on Thursday. The Red Devils mounted an improbable comeback to beat Lyon 5-4 and reach the Europa League semi-finals.
After blowing a 2-0 lead, United trailed 4-2 in extra time before scoring three late goals to progress. Amorim’s side became the first team in European football history to score two goals in the 120th minute of a game.
The Europa League is the priority for United over the run-in and Amorim’s team selection should reflect that.
Wolves arrive in Manchester in good form and are targeting a fifth consecutive Premier League win. Their run of form has lifted Vitor Periera’s team 14 points clear of the relegation places.
Ruben Amorim remains without several first-team names including centre-back trio Jonny Evans, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
Joshua Zirkzee has been ruled out for the season with a hamstring issue, while Amad Diallo, Ayden Heaven and Toby Collyer are all not yet ready to return.
After an exhausting 120 minutes on Thursday night, United are likely to freshen up their side. The fixture with Wolves appears an ideal time to hand minutes to the recently returned Luke Shaw and Mason Mount.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Mazraoui, Eriksen, Ugarte, Amass; Mount, Garnarcho; Hojlund.
Manchester United host Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday 20th April 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 14:00 BST.
