Bild reports that former Red Bull Salzburg head coach Matthias Jaissle is the next name to be linked to the vacant RB Leipzig job.
The German is currently managing Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League and earns €11m a year, which makes him the highest-paid German coach around. However, there have been rumours linking him with a return to Europe, with ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri linked as his replacement.
Red Bull technical director Mario Gomez and RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer are both said to hold Jaissle in high regard; the only issue with him is that he is yet to win anything major in his career.
What works in Jaissle’s favour is the fact that he is a product of the Red Bull football school of thought. The 36-year-old has been head coach at Salzburg and development team Liefering, as well as a coach at RB Leipzig’s youth academy.
Zsolt Löw is in interim charge at Leipzig for the rest of the season after the sacking of Marco Rose. Oliver Glasner and Roger Schmidt have also been linked to the job.
