Real Madrid will now look to salvage their campaign by successfully defending their La Liga title following the elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

In their bid to retain their title, the Merengues take on Athletic Club on Sunday night, as they aim to stay in touch with league leaders Barcelona, who have a four-point lead at the top.

Ahead of Sunday’s contest at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced the squad list of players at his disposal.

Kylian Mbappe misses out of the squad as he is recovering from an ankle sprain. Even if he was fit, the Frenchman would have been unavailable to face the Basque outfit as he serves a one-match ban for his red card vs Alaves.

Despite Mbappe’s absence, Ancelotti has opted not to call up any forward from the youth roster and has instead stuck with the four attacking options in Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes, Brahim Diaz, and Endrick, who could be in for a rare start in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin has recovered from his muscle problem and is back in the squad after missing the past few matches. Ferland Mendy, though, remains unavailable along with long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao.

Eduardo Camavinga, who missed the midweek game against Arsenal due to suspension, is back in the squad and might be named in the starting XI, along with Fran Garcia.
