Bologna and Riccardo Orsolini reportedly have a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ amid growing interest from domestic rivals Milan and Napoli. According to Calciomercato, the sought-after winger will not let his long-term employers down by leaving the club on a free transfer.

Orsolini’s contract at Renato Dall’Ara runs out in 2027. Therefore, the winger’s price tag would significantly drop next summer unless Bologna tied him down to a new deal. Meanwhile, Milan and Napoli are vying for his signature, with the former trying to purchase him in January.

Milan’s attempt was in vain as Bologna refused to sell their prized asset midway through the campaign amid Vincenzo Italiano’s quest to secure European football. Orsolini has been central to Bologna’s impressive Serie A run this season, establishing himself as the beating heart of their attack.

Indeed, the 28-year-old has been the epitome of consistency this term, racking up 11 goals and four assists across 24 Serie A appearances. Despite his scintillating form for Bologna, Italy boss Luciano Spalletti omitted Orsolini from his squad for March’s Nations League fixtures, sparking controversy in the local media.

On the other hand, Orsolini remains loyal to Bologna. He’d reportedly only leave Emilia-Romagna for a substantial transfer fee. Otherwise, he’ll commit his future to the Rossoblu out of respect for the club that turned him with no strings attached over the years.

However, there’s a feeling that Orsolini must leave Bologna this summer to take his career to the next step.
