With the international break now complete Manchester City return to action this weekend. They take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in an FA Cup quarter-final tie on Sunday. Pep Guardiola spoke to the media earlier today and he provided good news on the injury front for his team ahead of Sunday’s match.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the condition of his squad following the international break. He told the media during his pre-game press conference ahead of Sunday’s match that his players were tired following the completion of their international duties. Guardiola told the media: “Some of [the players] returned a little more tired and need recovery.

One player who picked an injury before the international break was Ederson. Manchester City’s number-one keeper missed his team’s 2-all draw against Brighton with an abdominal injury. Pep Guardiola told the media that Ederson had trained over the past two days and should be available for Sunday’s match. Guardiola told the media when asked about Ederson’s fitness: “[Ederson] trained the last two days.

Based on Pep Guardiola’s update, Manchester City has a clean bill of health coming out of the international break. They will head to the Vitality Stadium without Rodri, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake. But they have picked up no fresh injury concerns over the international break. That is good news for Pep Guardiola and his team ahead of what looms as a tough fixture against Andoni Iraola’s side.

It now remains to be seen who Pep Guardiola elects to start at the Vitality Stadium. But he should have all of his players available for selection outside of Manchester City’s long-term injured players. That is a massive boost for his team as they enter the finals stages of the 24/25 season.
