Van Dijk Declares Liverpool ‘Most Beautiful Club’ After Title Triumph

Liverpool are Premier League champions once again, and their leader, Virgil van Dijk, was unequivocal in his praise. As the celebrations unfolded at Anfield following a commanding 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, van Dijk spoke from the heart about what Liverpool means to him.

“This is special and it’s something that we don’t take for granted. It’s amazing,” van Dijk told Sky Sports. “(Liverpool is) the most beautiful club in the world and I think we deserve all of this. Let’s enjoy the next couple of weeks and let it sink in.”

This triumph marks Liverpool’s 20th top-flight title, equalling Manchester United’s record, and it is their second Premier League crown in five years. For van Dijk, there was no doubt about the scale of the achievement.

“A lot of emotions before the game, during the whole week, but we got the job done and we (are) truly deserved champions of England,” he said.

Liverpool’s consistency throughout the campaign, guided by Arne Slot in his debut season, has been a testament to a club that continues to evolve while respecting its historic foundations.

Slot’s Calm Authority Inspires Liverpool

Arne Slot’s first season could hardly have been scripted better. Even when Dominic Solanke briefly unsettled Anfield with an early goal for Spurs, there was no panic.

“It wasn’t ideal but it didn’t take me a long time to trust these players, they always come back, they always find a way to win,” Slot said.

Slot has brought his own imprint, but he was quick to acknowledge the legacy he inherited. “That’s not only my job, it’s the job of the players and the staff members standing over there and the work Jurgen (Klopp) and Pepijn (Lijnders) left behind over here. The culture of the team, the work rate, the quality was outstanding. We all knew that.”

Slot’s realism extended to the early ambitions set for the campaign. “When the season started everyone would have been happy if we were in the top four for Champions League again but I don’t think that was fair to our players because they are much better than that and that’s what they have showed this season.”

Salah Shines Under New Management

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s talisman once again, was pivotal in sealing the title, scoring to take his tally to 185 Premier League goals, moving into fifth place on the all-time list.

Asked to compare this title to 2020, Salah was clear: “This is way better, 100 per cent. Without Sadio (Mane), without Jurgen, without Bobby (Firmino) – without everybody it feels more special. We have a different group now, different manager, so to be able to do it again is something special.”

Slot’s impact on Salah was profound. “You can see the numbers – it seems so!” he joked. “He’s quite tough his personality, but he made our lives easier because you knew immediately what he wanted you to do, which is what we did.”
