FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are no strangers to dealing with controversy and excessive noise from the media. However, there are certain times when both of these clubs are simultaneously involved in specific situations. Unfortunately, that has happened once again to Barcelona and their opponents.

Ahead of the upcoming Copa del Rey final, a major controversy is now beginning to build up involving recent statements and complaints surrounding the chosen referees for the game and Real Madrid’s issue with them. Moreover, it is now boiling over and becoming a much larger problem.

Following the referees press conference ahead of the game between the two El Clasico rivals, Real Madrid made a decision to cancel not just their club dinner, but also both their open training session and the press conference before the game, as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano. A massive decision, but it could end up escalating even further.

As shared by Reshad Rahman, there is reportedly even a consideration within the Madrid-based club to potentially not play the game. Whether this would mean that they end up forfeiting the title or forcing the RFEF to suspend the game, it remains to be seen.

While this is not a guarantee for now, it clearly shows the intensity of the dissatisfaction that Real Madrid currently have with the situation. Ultimately, only time will tell what their final decision is regarding this entire fiasco.

However, Barcelona can not afford to slip into this nonsense and let Real Madrid put their energy into this matter. After all, Hansi Flick and his players are determined and focused on what they want to do, and Real Madrid’s public issue with the referees of the game should not concern them and their aspirations even beyond this game.

So far, it is clear that the RFEF does not approve of Madrid’s actions and they have no intentions of changing the officials for the game. As it stands, both Barcelona and Los Blancos will play in the Copa del Rey final, but Real Madrid clearly have a lot on their plate to sort out before the game.
