Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains a hot topic in the football world despite stepping out of the limelight in his latest role.

Klopp is in the early days of his job as the head of global soccer at Red Bull, but that has not stopped him from being linked with a plethora of jobs.

While some of the rumours make plenty of sense, others bear all the hallmarks of being generated by a six-year-old with too much time on their hands.

Klopp will eventually fulfil his national team dream

Over the past few days, Klopp has been tipped to return to management with several clubs.

Real Madrid was an obvious suggestion when it was announced that Carlo Ancelotti will leave the club after the Copa del Rey final.

However, Klopp’s agent quickly shut down the rumours, and it has since been claimed that he is unlikely to consider a return to management until 2026 at the earliest.

More amusingly, the ex-Liverpool boss has also been tipped as a possible option for Leeds, Rangers and England. Stop giggling at the back.

The Leeds and Rangers rumours are rooted in Red Bull’s links with 49ers Enterprises. They own Leeds and are about to take a controlling interest in Rangers.

However, there are two hopes of Klopp rocking up at either club – no hope and Bob Hope. It is a similar story where England are concerned.

They could be looking for a new manager after the 2026 World Cup, given that Thomas Tuchel’s contract expires after the tournament.

Regardless of what happens with Tuchel, his replacement will not be Klopp.

For starters, the Liverpool connection is a factor. Many Reds fans adopt the stance ‘we’re Scouse, not English,’ and Klopp wouldn’t risk ruining his legacy by managing the Three Lions.

There is also the allure of the German national team job. Klopp has made no secret of his desire to take charge at some point.

Current manager Julian Nagelsmann is contracted until 2028 – that timeline fits neatly with Klopp.

Nagelsmann will have overseen three major tournament cycles when his deal expires and may fancy a return to club football.

Klopp will have had sufficient time to make his mark in the Red Bull network and would be a natural choice to replace his compatriot. It will happen.
