La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Sunday been backed in their ongoing pursuit of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold by one of the game’s all-time greats.

The name of defender Alexander-Arnold has of course long proven a prominent one in the Spanish media headlines.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the right-back has been identified as a prime summer transfer target on the part of Real Madrid.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract with Liverpool in the summer, the 26-year-old has been earmarked as the ideal long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Alexander-Arnold, for his part, is seen as keen on the move, a call which has left those of a Liverpool persuasion less than impressed.

Some outlets, in turn, have gone as far as to suggest that a deal between the parties is all but imminent.

And one individual of the opinion that Real Madrid would be securing for themselves a top player in Alexander-Arnold is one of the best to ever fill the right-back role, in Cafu.

Speaking during an interview with beIN Sports this weekend, Brazilian icon Cafu was asked for his take on TAA’s potential move to Spain’s capital.

And the 54-year-old went on to assure:

“Trent Alexander-Arnold would be a great signing for Real Madrid. He’s performed exceptionally at Liverpool for a long time.”
