Manchester United have intensified their interest in Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo as they lay the groundwork for a major summer overhaul under incoming head coach Ruben Amorim.
United are understood to be among several Premier League clubs tracking the 25-year-old, who has impressed this season with 11 goals in all competitions. Amorim, set to take charge at Old Trafford ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, is reportedly a firm admirer of Semenyo’s attributes and has already outlined tactical plans that include the Ghanaian international in a restructured front line.
With outgoings expected to dominate the narrative at Old Trafford this summer, attacking reinforcements are high on the agenda. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony are all anticipated to depart permanently, with their respective loan clubs preparing for negotiations.
This paves the way for potential arrivals, and Semenyo has emerged as a leading candidate. The Bournemouth forward has consistently delivered for Andoni Iraola’s side since his move from Bristol City in January 2023, and his stock has only risen since then.
Back in November, Iraola issued a pointed warning to Liverpool following links between Semenyo and the Merseyside club, saying: “Don’t look too much at him.” His form has attracted admiration across the division, including from Liverpool’s incoming manager Arne Slot.
Although Semenyo remains contracted to Bournemouth until 2029, having signed a new long-term deal last year, the Cherries are likely to receive significant interest. Any negotiations would need to reflect the player’s trajectory, with a deal structure potentially mirroring the £65 million package Spurs agreed for Dominic Solanke — a combination of a lower base fee with substantial add-ons.
The forward’s versatility and work rate make him a valuable asset, and Bournemouth may be reluctant sellers unless their valuation is firmly met.
Manchester United are far from alone in their pursuit. Sources suggest that all of the current Premier League top six — with the exception of Arsenal — have registered varying levels of interest in Semenyo, while Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring developments closely.
Spurs, like United, are planning a busy window and view Semenyo as a dynamic option capable of fitting into multiple attacking systems. However, United’s early groundwork and Amorim’s influence could prove decisive in any bidding war.
With interest rising and the summer window approaching, Semenyo’s future is fast becoming one of the key storylines of this transfer window. Expect talks to accelerate as clubs begin to formalise their recruitment strategies.
